Gavin and Stacey fans were treated on Friday night to a re-run of the popular 2019 Christmas special, which revisited the Barry/Billericay collective a decade on from their last TV appearance with the full cast back for the reunion.
From Nessa (Ruth Jones) to Smithy (James Corden), and Pam (Alison Steadman), Mick (Larry Lamb), Bryn (Rob Brydon), Gwen (Melanie Walters) and of course Gavin (Mathew Horne) and Stacey (Joanna Page), all were present and correct for a return that encompassed heart, an 11-year-old Neil The Baby and pure, unadulterated fan service.
With the festivities set in Wales in 2019, viewers were delighted to find the usual scrapes and warmth firmly in place, although many questions were left unanswered after *that* cliffhanger ending, leading audiences to wonder about another Christmas special.
Ranging from wondering if Dawn and Pete survive another year and if Nessa and Bryn will ever get to Christmas number one to what actually happened on the fishing trip, fans are clamouring to get answers.
However, the most pressing question of all is, of course (massive spoiler ahead!), did Smithy say yes to Nessa’s proposal?

Despite many hints being dropped along the way and almost all the stars saying they are open to another helping of Gavin and Stacey, there is no new Christmas special on the way for fans this festive season.
However, viewers shouldn’t lose faith in the series making a return wth a final Christmas special one day, it seems.
Star Joanna Page revealed in the autumn that she is enjoying her days doing presenting work over acting now, as it affords her more time with her husband and four children.
Speaking to The Mirror, she added: ‘Also, I just find presenting a lot more interesting. You’re always doing something different and I love just being myself and chatting to people.’

The 44-year-old was clear she’d make an exception to her new career for Gavin and Stacey though, explaining that it would likely come ‘out of the blue’ for everyone involved.
She recalled: ‘After the third series ended we were told, “this is it, there won’t be any more” so it was such a complete shock.

‘I’d expect if it was ever going to be on TV again that getting another phone call out of the blue is what would happen.’
She also previosuly teased that she felt ‘the whole cast’ would be up for shooting another special as ‘it’s such a joy to film’.
Gavin and Stacey is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
