Warning: spoilers ahead for And Just Like That.

It’s been revealed that Sex And The City star Chris Noth was purposely present during the filming of a funeral scene on the reboot series And Just Like That in an effort to throw off the paparazzi.

Despite the absence of fan-favourite Samantha (Kim Catrall), many fans of the original show were looking forward to seeing Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) and Charlotte (Kristin Davis) reunite in the Big Apple.

However, what they weren’t expecting was for Big to be offed in the first episode, when he suffers a heart attack after a rigorous workout on his Peloton (although the fitness equipment company has insisted that Big’s ‘extravagant lifestyle’ would have been a contributing factor to his death).

In August this year, Sex And The City fans were left scratching their heads when pictures were released of the cast of And Just Like That filming a scene that appeared to resemble a funeral.

Unaware that it would have been the ceremony held in Big’s memory, creator Michael Patrick King confessed that Chris was present on the day as a red herring for photographers.

‘Chris was really pleased with the collaboration and we’re both very happy with the daring choice to have Mr Big come back and go, so much so that he even put on a suit and came to the funeral when we were taping,’ he told press, according to Deadline.

‘And I wrote a fake scene, so he and Sarah Jessica [Parker] put on costumes. He said to me, “You really want me to put a face of makeup on and come down and shoot a fictional scene at my funeral?” I go, “Yeah,” because I really wanted the audience to be as surprised as possible before we did it.’

Many viewers were devastated by Big’s death, having hoped to see more of his story with Carrie in And Just Like That.

‘YOU ARE TELLING ME THAT WE WAITED 17 YEARS FOR YOU TO DO THAT TO MR BIG IN THE FIRST 10 MINUTES!?!?!?!?,’ one person tweeted.

‘I’m upset over a fictional character’s death. How did y’all do Mr. Big like that?!? After all these years!?’ another wrote angrily.

And Just Like That is available to watch on Sky Comedy and NOW.
