I’m A Celebrity 2021: David Ginola utterly baffled to learn viewers think he’s hilarious: ‘Am I funny?’

David Ginola was left dumbfounded to learn that the public think he’s funny on Saturday’s episode of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!.

The former football star, 54, is far better known for his skills on the pitch – and now being a reality TV star – than he is for his humour.

However, as he learned on the latest episode, viewers find his stoic personality pretty hilarious.

David, along with his fellow I’m A Celeb campmates, learnt about the public’s perception of them as they played the Sword in the Stone Challenge.

The game saw David, along with Simon Gregson, Frankie Bridge and Danny Miller, have to guess how the public had ranked them in terms of who was the funniest, cleanest, most stylish and naughtiest.

When trying to decide who was funniest, the celebs didn’t initially include David in the rankings at all – but it turned out he was voted the third funniest.

David, absolutely baffled, asked: ‘Am I funny?!’

‘Maybe the way I speak can be funny, can be misunderstood?’ a befuddled David asked in the Telegraph.

In what actually might be a bit of a sly dig – but a completely friendly one, of course – Frankie remarked that it was ‘really funny’ to see the public’s perception of people compared to the perception they had of each other.

In fact, David told Danny: ‘You don’t make me laugh’, but added ‘you are funny’.

The Sword In The Stone challenge drew plenty of laughs from the contestants, such as when former campmate Adam Woodyatt was voted the cleanest member of the castle.

A flabbergasted Danny told the Telegraph: ‘You want to smell Adam Woodyatt, he smells like a shin pad!’

Frankie echoed the sentiment, saying: ‘They can’t smell what we can smell.’

Of course, with Adam and fellow campmate Matty Lee having been voted out by the public on Friday’s double elimination, these insults were just salt in the wound.

Who needs enemies, right?

I’m A Celebrity airs daily at 9pm on ITV.
