Recently, Russell Westbrook did the unthinkable last season by surpassing Oscar Robertson. Now this time, Stephen Curry is on course to make history and take his rightful place as the king of the three-pointer.

He is only 7 threes away from passing Ray Allen. However, his teammate, Andre Iguodala, wants people to lay off him.

Curry is the leading man on the MVP ladder in the NBA. The Warriors star is having yet another career year, but his shooting capabilities might not appear to be at their best. However, that hasn’t stopped him from putting up exciting performances.

Now, the “Baby Face Assassin” is one night away from becoming the leader of all-time three-pointers in the NBA. However, he is certainly feeling the pressure from fans to do it quickly.

When speaking about the record. Iguodala spoke about how people are just trying to monetize the moment and make money from it.

Iguodala speaks out on Stephen Curry nearing history

Curry was questioned about being able to hit 16 threes in a game to break the record. He said that he has witnessed even crazier things. Since then, fans and analysts have been on his back to break Ray Allen’s record as quickly as possible. This seems to be weighing down for him as he has recently struggled on the floor. Andre Iguodala also feels the new age of basketball just wants to monetize this and it is taking away from Curry having his own moment.

He said: “Everyone’s trying to capitalize off the moment and it’s taking away from his moment you know what I mean. You gotta do it tonight, so we can record it and monetize it. It’s just kind of the new age of basketball phase we are in right now. So you know, it will happen, its just let it happen when it’s supposed to, not rush it or not forcing it.”

Iguodala feels the pressure of the basketball world is taking away from the actual essence of the game. Curry’s first priority is to win the ball game. Right now, people are only looking for an opportunity to make money when Curry hits the milestone.

He wants Curry to enjoy his moment and let it happen when it should. Stephen Curry wants to focus on winning with the team rather than his own record. Fans should keep that in mind too. It is inevitable for him to break that record and also create a fair distance. However, it has to happen at his own time and Curry needs to enjoy that historical moment.
