Giovanni Pernice has heaped praise on the impact Rose Ayling-Ellis has had on his final after making it to the Strictly Come Dancing final.

The pro dancer and the EastEnders star are in a celebratory mood after getting through to this weekend’s grand finale alongside John Whaite and Johannes Radebe, and AJ Odudu and Kai Widdrington.

Giovanni shared a joyous snap of the pair overcome with happiness after being backed by voters to get to the next stage of the competition, and he said he’s ‘really grateful to have [her] in [his] life’.

He wrote on Instagram: ‘We did it !! WE ARE IN THE FINAL !! You really worked hard and you’ve got the result you wanted… You have given me thousands of reasons to be proud of you

‘The way you inspire me and always cheer me up, I am really grateful to have you in my life. Now let’s go and enjoy our last week … and CHE SARÀ SARÀ!!! Well done super [star] @rose.a.e’

Rose shared her own series of snaps from their Strictly journey and said she ‘could not have asked for a better [teammate]’.

‘Anything is possible when you have a right person there to support you all the way,’ she wrote. ‘Giovanni, I am so proud of us, we succeed together, I could have not ask for a better teammates. Let smash it! The FINAL here we come!! (sic)’

Their triumph came after Saturday night’s performance when Rose mocked her pro partner over his ‘smelly breath’, and we were howling.

Ahead of their second turn on the dancefloor, Rose couldn’t not take advantage of the opportunity to tease her partner when discussing with Claudia Winkleman how they would be dancing in close proximity to each other while in hold.

Describing the choreography for the Argentine Tango, Rose said: ‘Passionate, it’s traditional, and it’s very, very close,’ before gesturing to Giovanni as she added: ‘Smelly breath.’

Brutal! The 27-year-old burst into laughter at her own quip, as Giovanni also guffawed over the cheek of his partner.

Meanwhile, Sunday night’s result show saw viewers say goodbye to Rhys Stephenson and Nancy Xu after they lost to  John and Johannes in the dance-off.

When asked by Tess about their time on the show, Rhys said: ‘I might not have gotten to the final but I learned so much from just being on this show, from everyone here who’s just supported us in this new family.

‘To have the time to spend with this champion of a dancer [Nancy] who’s put so much into me. Thank you for just letting my energy shine. Thank you for being that partner.

The Strictly Come Dancing final airs Saturday at 7pm on BBC One.
