Halo Infinite Slayer playlist and more coming this week – devs still working on campaign mission select

Four new playlists are in the pipeline for Halo Infinite’s multiplayer this week, including a dedicated Slayer playlist.

Despite the surplus of modes available in Halo Infinite’s multiplayer, some players weren’t thrilled that there’s no way to play the classic Slayer whenever you want. Technically, there are Slayer modes in Halo Infinite, but they are all team based and part of other playlists.

There has been a demand for a dedicated Slayer playlist since the multiplayer released and 343 Industries is just about ready to give fans what they want.

In a recent Reddit post on the Halo subreddit, which was then shared by 343’s community support and engagement coordinator Tyler ‘Postums’ Davis on Twitter, the studio confirmed that a Slayer playlist is locked in for Tuesday, December 14.

Not only that, but it will be joined by three more playlists for Fiesta, FFA (free for all), and Tactical Slayer (aka SWAT). While these playlists will all arrive as part of an update, 343 says that Slayer was meant to come with more variants but that will no longer be the case.

‘The team’s original plans for a Slayer playlist included a variety of new variants that weren’t going to be ready in time to deploy before the holiday break,’ reads the Reddit post.

‘To address player feedback for Slayer in the near term, we’ll be releasing a basic Slayer offering to start and will look to bolster and expand with more variants in a future update.’

The update will also make adjustments to some challenges, such as reducing their requirements and outright removing ones locked to specific modes. New challenges for specific playlists will be added in as well.

For fans of Halo Infinite’s campaign mode, 343 has said that it is still working on adding an option to replay story missions but can’t promise a release date.

In an interview with Stevivor, associate creative director Paul Crocker said ‘It’s part of what is coming later. The main reason is because, being a more open game and a non-linear game, it became incredibly challenging. It’s not that it doesn’t work, it’s just that it’s not finished.

‘We made the decision to make a better game, to improve the quality of the game so we could then add the features – just like co-op. And that is disappointing for us as the people who made it, but it was, also, the better option for us to make a better game and add that later.’

Halo Infinite is available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
