Who is Martin Roberts, the Homes Under The Hammer presenter and former I’m a Celeb contestant?

MARTIN Roberts has become a daytime TV favourite thanks to his role on Homes Under The Hammer – and there was also his unforgettable appearance down under in I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here in 2016.

But he is now facing the ultimate challenge by taking part in Strictly The Full Monty.

Who is Martin Roberts?

Born in Warrington on July 20 1963, Martin studied at the Bradford University in the 1980s.

He was a DJ at the university’s radio station before moving on to BBC Radio Manchester.

Along with his media career, the 58-year-old has always had an interest in houses and started developing property in the early 1990s.

He is best known for co-hosting the long-running BBC show Homes Under The Hammer alongside Lucy Alexander, which follows people as they transform homes they buy at auction.

How did Martin Roberts begin his TV career?

After rising through the ranks of the radio world, he landed his first job on TV when he was made a regular presenter on much-loved BBC travel show Wish You Were Here?

He co-presented it with telly icon Judith Chalmers, and was often seen making viewers green with envy at his sun-soaked explorations.


After that, he landed his current job on Homes Under The Hammer, alongside Dion Dublin, Martel Maxwell, Jacqui Joseph and Tommy Walsh. He often appears on news programmes where he gives his expert opinion on property.

Martin has also presented shows such as Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is and How to Survive the Property Crisis.

How did Martin Roberts do on I’m A Celebrity in 2016?

In 2016, Martin gained even more exposure when he became a contest on I’m A Celeb.

He had a baptism of fire when he and Danny Baker entered the camp later than the rest of celebrities, the two newcomers learning that they would have to instantly face a Bushtucker Trial.

Having chosen Olympian Sam Quek to join him for the task, the TV star sent some viewers into a meltdown as he got very close to the hockey ace during the challenge.

He has outed himself as a ‘tree hugger’, giving Adam a demonstration of how to be at one with nature.

Martin left the jungle after spending 14 days Down Under, he left during a double elimination alongside Wayne Bridge.
