WWE gives ‘injury update’ on Liv Morgan after brutal Becky Lynch attack on Raw

Liv Morgan suffered a brutal attack at the hands of Becky Lynch on Raw, and WWE has given an ‘injury update’ on her condition.

The 27-year-old star is set to face the Raw Women’s Champion for the gold at the Day 1 pay-per-view, but Lynch gained a psychological – and potentially physical – advantage on Monday night as she attacked her opponent.

The two wrestlers traded verbal jabs as Liv called out Big Time Becks for cheating to win last week by using the ropes as she pinned her challenger, and then tried to goad her into a rematch.

At first, The Man looked ready to turn down the rising star, but Morgan charged at her and sparked a wild brawl which saw Lynch gain the advantage before stomping on her rival’s hand on the ring steps.

She took things even further as she then trapped it between the steps and ring post and delivered another boot, before joking that Liv injured herself and then accepting the challenge.

On Raw Talk after the main show, it was revealed Liv has suffered a deep bone bruise and strained radial collateral ligament in her right arm.

This appears to be in storyline terms, and there haven’t been any reports suggesting the star is actually injured off-screen.

In a preview for their Day 1 title match, WWE teased: ‘Lynch and Morgan came to blows in their ensuing encounter the following week, as the challenger unleashed on the champion with a furious attack.

‘Big Time Becks responded with an unmatched brutality and smashed Morgan’s arm between the steel steps. Morgan has proved she’s unwilling to back down from her title dreams, but how much strength can she muster in her battle?’

Although Liv is yet to tweet about the attack itself, she has responded to the match announcement and made it clear she’s coming for Becky’s Raw Women’s Title.

Sharing the news, she simply added: ‘It’s mine’.

The fans are behind Morgan, and time will tell if this truly is her moment to finally capture gold in WWE.

*WWE Raw airs Monday nights at 1am on BT Sport 1. Watch Day 1 at the same time on January 1 via the WWE Network.
