I’m a minimalist and only own 13 items of clothing – I don’t care if people see me in the same top all the time

IT can be difficult to decide what to wear on a daily basis.

But one woman has come up with an ingenious way of removing that “decision fatigue” once and for all.

Self-described “friendly neighbourhood minimalist” Abigail has been detailing her lifestyle in videos on her TikTok page.

In one video, she explained that she chooses what to wear from her capsule wardrobe of 13 items on a daily basis.

“I’m a minimalist with 13 items of clothing. I have three bottoms, five tops and five dresses, but most people don’t know that and I don’t think that people really notice,” she explained.

“Because I live with so little, I make sure to choose the pieces very carefully, and all of them are versatile.

“Because they’re so mix and match, those 13 pieces get me about 30 outfits. So I’m not actually repeating that much.”

She added that even when she had “five times the amount of clothing” than she does now, she still ended up “wearing the same shirts over and over again”.

Her video sparked countless questions from viewers, such as what she does for an “around the house” wardrobe, and how much underwear she owns.

Abigail later returned to TikTok to share a few more videos clarifying the answers.

“I do have a house capsule wardrobe too,” she explained. “So I have four T-shirts, and four bottoms – three are like athletic leggings and I have one pair of pyjama pants.

“I do not sleep with clothes on.”

As for underwear, Abigail owns seven pairs of knickers, two sports bras, one normal bra and a camisole.

Shoes-wise she has a pair of cowboy boots, tennis shoes, two pairs of flats and one pair of sandals, while she has a cardigan, coat and hoodless sweatshirt for when the weather turns colder.

Abigail went on to insist that she’s become a lot happier since reducing her wardrobe, because she doesn’t have to think or worry about what she’s going to wear.

“Since reducing my wardrobe down to just 13 pieces of clothing, as a minimalist my decision fatigue is all but gone,” she explained.

“In the morning I’ll grab a dress or any top and bottom because they all mix and match, I can choose to wear my cardigan or not, and I can accessorise with jewellery if I want to.

“But I know that any outfit I create is going to be comfortable and it’s going to feel like me – I just feel confident in everything that I own.”

She added: “I don’t have to worry that that one shirt that goes with that one pair of pants is in the washer so I can’t wear that – it’s just easy.”
