“If Nikola Jokic Was American They Wouldn’t Be Laughing”: NBA Twitter Incensed As ESPN Analysts Laugh at Jokic’s MVP Contention

NBA fans often consider Nikola Jokic as one of the most underrated players in the NBA. The Denver Nuggets talisman stands at 6 ft 11 in with NBA analysts referring to him as one of the league’s best centers. Nicknamed ‘the Joker’ by NBA fans, Jokic led the Nuggets to the Western Conference Finals in the 2019-20 NBA season. Fans recently reacted to analysts laughing at the prospect of the NBA naming Jokic MVP.

Fans came to Nikola Jokic’s defense after an NBA panel on ESPN discussed possible MVP candidates. Only Zach Lowe, a senior writer at ESPN opened that Jokic deserved an MVP for the incredible stats that he posted. Other analysts on the panel laughed off Lowe’s suggestions as they offered Kevin Durant’s name as the likely candidate.

The NBA had named Nikola Jokic the NBA MVP in 2021. Since Shaquille O’Neal in 2000, Jokic is the first center to win the award. The Denver Nuggets drafted Jokic in 2015. The season ended with Jokic finishing third in the voting for the 2016 NBA Rookie of the Year Award. He won a silver medal with the Serbian national team at the 2016 Olympics.

Fans react to NBA analysts disrespecting Nikola Jokic

Zach Lowe, on the ESPN show, said, “It’s beyond stupid that we frame [the MVP race] as a two man race … [Nikola Jokic] belongs in the race.” Other panelists rubbished Lowe’s claims about Jokic. NBA fans, as always, had hilarious reactions to the debate which discussed the front-runner for MVP.

If Jokic was American, they wouldn’t be laughing at Zach. https://t.co/iryAAWW7bj

Steph was denied MVP not because his team record but because Nikola is a better basketball player. 3pt shooting goes to Steph, and then….? Casual fans can’t come to grips with this cause the media doesn’t talk about big honey.

The thing that is most disrespectful time and time again is how little respect Richard Jefferson has for Jokic when RJ finished his career playing with him in Denver. It blows my mind every time.

Can’t wait till Jokic ends with the 3 seed again this year cuz we go on a crazy stretch when Murray comes back and they come up with even more excuses, Even when Jokic has the most statistically dominate season of all time.

Jokic should also be in conversation of the best to ever play this game honestly if he continues at the rate he’s going.

The NBA has named Jokic to the NBA All-Star three times, and the All NBA Team twice.
