‘Earned the Complete License’: Stephen Curry’s College Coach Reveals Why He Always Got the Green Light to Shoot However he Wanted
It is hardly a topic of discussion that Stephen Curry is the greatest three-pointer shooter to ever step into the NBA. We knew this before, and after he surpassed Ray Allen’s record for career three-pointers, there was no ounce of doubt left. He will, forever, be the biggest reason for revolutionizing the game but his head coach from college has quite an analogy for the way he plays.
Bob McKillop told in a recent interview that from the college itself, Steph had earned the right to shoot three’s the way he pleased. However, there was a reason he was given that liberty and not the other players.
Stephen Curry was granted the license

Even before Steph was drafted as the ninth overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft, there was one person who saw his potential way before anybody else. His coach at Davidson College had eyes on him even when he was in high school. And unlike most, who underappreciated him because of his physical appearance, Bob McKillop only saw a superstar.
And now that Steph has added another impressive accolade to his resume, here’s what Bob had to say about it. “We have the craziest philosophy,” said Bob. “That shooting a three, you have to have a license for it, just like you have to have a license to drive. And you earn your license by performing at practice. Some guys have restricted licenses, some have revoked licenses, and some have complete licenses.”
“And Steph earned the complete license right away because of his ability to shoot it, is made to challenge your drills in which you’re going in live-action. Not just standing there and shooting jumpers. You’re actually coming off a move and you see, as you’ve watched him work out and I have watched him work out many times in his NBA career, he does the replication of the exact movements he’s going to do in the game. And he does it from an extraordinary number of angles.”

Is the Warriors superstar not any different from a Broadway dancer?

McKillop did not just stop there. He even went as far as comparing Steph to a broadway dancer. The way that these dancers come out on stage, dance, recite lines, and sing, after all the practice they do, Curry does the exact same thing.
The Golden State Warriors superstar is having a historic season, and taking the franchise to an iconic run as well. Not only do they have the best record in the league, but are also doing it without Klay Thompson. Something nobody thought was possible.
Well, Curry did a great job shutting his critics. And it looks like that there is much more to come since a lot of the season is still left to unfold. How much more is the 33-year-old going to continue to impress us with his three-point shooting? Only time will tell.
