Carlos Sainz Fires Warning at Verstappen & Hamilton Amidst Potentially Unpredictable 2022 F1 Season

The 2021 season mostly had the same kind of narration unfolding in front of our eyes with either Lewis Hamilton or Max Verstappen taking pole position on Saturday only for the duo to pull away effortlessly from the rest of the grid on Sunday.

And by the time Hamilton and Verstappen cross the chequered flag, the rest of the drivers would find themselves detached from the leaders lurking miles behind. Predictable, isn’t it? Well, not for long. Since the takeover by Liberty Media, F1 has been chasing after equality by restricting the regulations to a rather narrow path.

Hence, there are quite a few surprises in store as we head into the 2022 season; Carlos Sainz, too, is aware of the makeover that is in the offing and is already eyeing the big trophy.

During an interview, the Spaniard reckoned that he could beat both Hamilton and Verstappen assuming he owns a car as competitive as Mercedes and Red Bull.

As reported by Soy Motor, the Madrid native is certain that he could defeat the two undefeatable world champions next season if Ferrari manages to pull off a masterclass in their Maranello factory.

With the same car, you can, yes, or with more equal conditions. The problem is that this year Mercedes and Red Bull were between eight tenths and one second per lap faster, and between drivers, I want to think that there are not more than two or three tenths,” he said.

If there is a driver who drives a car eight tenths faster, no matter how good you are, you will not be able to beat them. I hope that Formula 1 next year is more even, we can all have more fun and compete equally.

There are mixed predictions over the script that is getting prepped up for next year. While half of the racing fraternity believes that the forthcoming season might not live up to the persisting hype, the other half is standing firm, adamantly rooting for a chaotic campaign.

So, which one is it going to be? Dull and predictable or thrilling and unpredictable?
