Transgender AEW star Nyla Rose responds after fan was ‘kicked out for holding transphobic sign’

Nyla Rose has thanked her followers for their support after an All Elite Wrestler fan was kicked out of Wednesday’s Dynamite for holding a transphobic sign.

The AEW star – who became the first openly transgender wrestler in North America when she signed with the company in 2019 – was in Greensboro, North Carolina this week as she faced Ruby Soho in the semi-finals of the TBS Championship Tournament.

During the bout, a fan was holding up a sign directed at Rose, who was seen raising a middle finger in their direction.

She didn’t appear rattled at the time, and while she hasn’t directly responded to the incident publicly since the show went off-air, she did take to Twitter to address her supporters.

She tweeted: ‘Thanks everyone…. SOME of y’all are pretty cool (sic)’

Her wife – who doesn’t use her real name on social media for privacy reasons – took to Twitter during the show, hailing the wrestler as the ‘strongest person’ she knows, while also trying to alert security to the person who was ‘misgendering’ her with the sign.

She later added that the person in question had been ‘removed from the venue’.

She heaped praise on AEW’s security team for the way they handled the situation, and said they were ‘absolutely amazing’.

She wrote: ‘The security team at AEW is absolutely amazing. The guy was escorted out. Just because it wasn’t fast enough for some of you, doesn’t mean they didn’t do their job. Their first priority it to protect the talent that is actively performing.’

Nyla’s wife noted they are sadly ‘used to seeing’ these kinds of comments, and urged people to ‘call them out’.

‘After almost 10 year together, this is sadly something I’m used to seeing. It’s definitely become less over the years. All we have to do is keep holding them accountable and call them out,’ she said, before later giving a positive update on her partner.

‘We are good! She’s safely home for the holiday and we are about to have the best Christmas in our new home.’
