“He Just Beat a World Champion in His Last Fight”- Chris Weidman Believes Anderson Silva Should Be Next for Jake Paul

If you ask about fighters who had a wonderful 2021, you’ll find YouTuber turned boxer Jake Paul on the list. ‘The Problem Child’ managed to eclipse UFC superstar, Tyron Woodley, not once but twice in the same calendar year.

The combat sports world has recognized Paul’s prowess and wants him to take on opponents his size. Meanwhile, UFC middleweight Chris Weidman has a suggestion.

On his Won’t Back Down podcast, Weidman said, ‘The All-American’ asserted that former UFC champion Anderson Silva will be the perfect opponent for Jake Paul. “I would love to see him fight Anderson Silva. He’s calling out all these fighters with UFC contracts. I don’t think he’s really.”

“None of these fights are going to happen at this point. Anderson Silva is not in contract. He’s a professional boxer, he’s been looking great. He just beat a world champion in his last fight… And they are right around the same weight, same size.”

Weidman later opined that Paul won’t take up on the offer as he wants to put on a show and not an actual fight. And Silva will provide the latter with his supreme boxing skills. Currently, Weidman is spending time away from the octagon because of a horrible leg injury. Notably, Weidman snapped his leg in the first round of his bout with Uriah Hall back in April.

Will Anderson Silva be a match for Jake Paul?

‘The Spider’, who bid farewell to the UFC last year in 2020, was one of the most memorable fighters to ever compete in the UFC. He cobbled together a grand record of 34 wins, which includes 23 TKO/KOs and 3 submissions.

After his star-studded MMA career at the UFC, the Brazilian took up boxing. He beat the likes of Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (a former boxing world champion) and former MMA fighter Tito Ortiz in 2021. However, the age gap may be the only bother in Silva’s camp as the legend is almost twice as old as Paul.
