Former Super Bowl Champion Compares Dallas Cowboys to Legendary ‘Showtime Lakers’
Former NFL Super Bowl champion Everson Walls heaped high praise on the Dallas Cowboys defense during his appearance on the 105.3 The Fan show. While speaking on Cowboys CB Trevon Diggs and his potential to break his franchise interception, Walls compares the Cowboys’ defensive breakaway with the ‘Showtime’ Lakers.

Walls talks about the similarity between the two due to their fast-paced and vibrant young players. He mentions how their single-minded attempts to get the football up the pitch reminds him of the 1980s Los Angeles Lakers lineup. The 1980s Lakers basketball team comprised Hall of Famers Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul Jabbar, who were famous for their run and gun style of play.

Contagious Energy of the Dallas Cowboys
Everson, while speaking on the podcast, also compares his team of 1981 and the current Dallas roster. He points that though his team had a lot of ‘greatness’, they weren’t as energetic or enthusiastic as the current squad. He also points out a sense of inevitability in their play that teams in the NFL can’t stop even if they see it coming.
Walls, a Super Bowl winner with the Giants, really was quite impressed with the Cowboys and how they have elevated their game. He also has confidence in CB Diggs to eclipse his record of INTs in the remaining games of the regular season.

Dallas has been the team in the NFC East and holds the 6th spot in the ESPN Power Rankings, behind some of the best teams in the NFL. They really have a Defensive Player of the Year duel going on between Trevon Diggs and Micah Parsons with both key contributors to their success.
These high endorsements from legends such as Everson Walls can become the fuel the Cowboys need in the postseason. The Cowboys currently sit on top of the NFC East with an 11-4 record. All the signs poise their long-awaited return for a Super Bowl appearance in front of their die-hard fans.
