Lando Norris Claims 2021 P3 Battle With Ferrari Sets the Stage for 2022 F1 Title Battle

Besides the enticing battle in front of the grid, the battle for third in the constructor’s board was just as exciting. With the historic battle between the BIg Two of the sport reignited, McLaren and Ferrari had a very interesting season. Thus, McLaren star Lando Norris believes this is just the beginning.

Norris promises that the two teams have more in store, especially with the tabula rasa of 2022. Both teams were strong, and both had their moments of weakness; however, in the end, Ferrari finished ahead of their rivals.

Norris feels the tug of war of this season will prove helpful in the coming season. “Just being with that mentality, them keeping us on our toes, keeping us pushing, trying to find these smallest bits of lap time.”

The dramatic battle further kept the two teams from being complacent, according to the Brit, who was a part of a historic 1-2 finish for his team. “I think it has been good for us. The same for them – not an easy year for them, so I think it has benefitted both of us.”

Lando Norris hopes for closer battles amid new regulations

Despite falling behind their rivals in red, Norris hopes to paint 2022 Papaya orange. “I think we are in a better position for next year when we are going to race them more often and hopefully the guys at the front more often too.”

The driver also revealed that, notwithstanding the P4, McLaren has become a better team in the garage. “We are closer to the front, and the gap to the rest is also much bigger, apart from Ferrari. It has still been a very good season, and not just in terms of results and points, but also how we worked together as a team and how we maximized things.”

Thus, the man who held the team up for a considerable part of the season is confidently walking into 2022. Additionally, his teammate, Daniel Ricciardo has relived the taste of the victor’s champagne; the Honey Badger would be thirsty for more. Norris too knows the exhilaration of leading a race, and although Sochi absolved him of a maiden victory, 2022 might just be kind to the Brit.

2022 may be the renaissance of the historic battle of Formula 1’s Big Two.
