The Masked Singer UK: Fans convinced Doughnuts is ‘unmistakeably’ Michael Owen

Numerous fans of The Masked Singer UK are convinced Doughnuts could be former professional footballer Michael Owen, with some saying his tone of voice is ‘unmistakeable’.
On the first episode of season 3, Mushroom, Robobunny, Doughnuts, Chandelier, Lionfish and Firework all took to the stage to perform in front of judges Rita Ora, Mo Gilligan, Jonathan Ross and Davina McCall.
Doughnuts proved a hit with the audience, while clues for the character included that they were ‘extra speedy’, have ‘never been the lazy sort’ and they ‘run ice rings around the competition.
While some thought the singer could be Gary Lineker, due to references to football and crisps, others believe without a doubt that it’s Michael, as they recognised his voice instantly when the celebrity began singing.
‘Doughnut is Michael Owen… I’ll eat my hat if it isn’t,’ one viewer tweeted.
‘Doughnuts’ voice was unmistakably Michael Owen,’ another said.

Someone else remarked that in their opinion, the character was not able to conceal their voice as Michael.
‘Yeah that is 100% Michael Owen not doing a very good job at covering his voice as Donuts,’ they said.
‘Can’t even disguise Michael Owen’s tone on #TheMaskedSinger,’ someone else wrote, while another quipped: ‘Michael Owen is doughnut. FACT.’
If it turns out that Michael is Doughnuts, he won’t be the first ex footballer to have made an appearance on the show.
In 2021, manager Glenn Hoddle astounded audiences when he was revealed to be Grandfather Clock.
The previous year, Teddy Sherringham was unmasked as Tree, becoming the fourth contestant to be eliminated.
On the first episode of the show, Doughnuts was selected as the winner of their sing-off against Chandelier, putting the latter at risk of being chosen to leave the competition.
On Sunday evening, the rest of the characters taking part in the new season will perform, which will include Bagpipes, Panda, Poodle, Rockhopper, Snow Leopard and Traffic Cone.

We won’t be finding out who Doughnuts is yet, considering they are currently safe and through to the next round.
