You’re cleaning your black jeans all wrong – the right way helps maintain their color longer
IF YOU’RE looking to get a longer life out of your black jeans, there are several ways to do so.
Cleaning expert and home hack guru Carolina Mccauley shared her tips for maintaining the dark black color and preventing fade.

TikTok/@carolina.mccauleyOne method to help maintain the color in black jeans is to wash them with salt[/caption]
First, Carolina recommended washing black jeans inside out and using vinegar instead of fabric softener.
Vinegar is a known natural fabric softener and according to laundry and dry cleaning company Hangers Cleaning, it also helps slow the fade of black dye in clothes.
Caroline also recommended washing black clothes only with other dark colors.
Finally, she suggested adding salt to the load and washing on a cold cycle.
Architecture, design, and DIY site Hunker reported that adding salt to laundry helps set the color in and therefore prevents bleeding.
And of course, washing in cold water prevents colors from bleeding and clothes from shrinking.

Apparently, we’re not just cleaning our jeans wrong – another TikTok account shared what they believe everyone should do before turning their washing machine on at all.
First, the account, which goes by the name @truearthmovement, recommended zipping all zippers to prevent clothing damage during the cycle.
The account also said people should tie any strings to prevent tangles.
They also suggested unfurling socks to ensure they get completely clean in the washer, turning pockets inside out so they don’t retain extra water, and turning cotton T-shirts and dressES inside out to help with stain removal and to protect the fabric.
There’s also a hack for drying our clothes, too.
In order to speed up drying time, it’s recommended to put a dry towel in with the wet clothes, as it will absorb moisture.
