Kevin Love Comments on Defamed Broadcaster After LeBron James Takes Him to Task
Sometimes, the NBA fraternity can be a brutal place to be a part of. One is often the center of attention, and subjected to comments, criticisms and more. On Wednesday night, Houston Rockets guard-forward Kevin Porter Jr. was the victim of some harsh comments. After hitting a buzzer beater against Washington, a Wizards announcer made a questionable reference to the player’s father, which didn’t go down too lightly with Lakers star LeBron James. However, Cleveland Cavaliers star Kevin Love has gone on defend the commentator after some clarifications.
The incident took place during the Rockets vs Wizards encounter. Houston, who were in desperate need of some heroics, looked to Kevin Porter Jr. to save them. And the young 21-year-old didn’t disappoint. In the dying seconds, he nailed a three-pointer, which in turn led to an ugly statement. The announcer Glenn Consor went on to say “Kevin Porter Jr., like his dad, pulled that trigger right at the right time.” However, the lesser known fact is that Kevin’s father was once accused of some unforeseen charges, and later killed in an unfortunate incident. As a result, the piece of commentary came as a shocker.

Broadcaster Glenn’s words did not go down too well with the NBA world. Several fans took to social media to bash the unsympathetic words. Following this, 37-year-old icon LeBron James also commented against his words. “Oh he thought this was cool huh!!?? Nah we ain’t going for this! Sorry but this ain’t going to fly! How insensitive can you be to say something like this. Beat it man! I pray for you but there’s no place in our beautiful game for you!” said the 17-time All-star.

In the aftermath of all the outrage, Glenn himself decided to clarify what had happened. Via a statement on social media, he stated that he was extremely apologetic for his comments. In addition, he added that he mistook Porter Jr. to be the son of former player Kevin Porter. Cavaliers veteran Kevin Love, shocked at the statement himself, went on to come in support of the broadcaster. “Healthy discussion to be had here…Context is everything. I know Glenn is well respected within the League. Our blink reaction as players is/was to protect one of our own,” he said.

What did you think of Glenn Consor’s words? Unaware of the clarification, James surely defended Kevin Porter in the best way possible. We can only hope that everything clears up, and there is no further controversy.
