For IMPACT Wrestling, Hard To Kill is more than just a cool pay-per-view name – it’s something that perfectly sums up the company’s rollercoaster history.
Formerly TNA, the promotion has dealt with plenty of highs and lows before Scott D’Amore and his team helped build serious momentum and goodwill with fans.
Now, the annual January event is a must-see spectacle and tonight’s edition features four championship matches along with the first ever Knockouts Ultimate X Match, with the winner earning a shot at the Knockouts Champion.
Speaking of the title itself, Mickie James will be defending the gold just weeks before she makes a sensational appearance in the WWE Royal Rumble.
Fans were blown away when the company announced Mickie – who was released in April 2021 – as one of several returning legends for the iconic bout, which kicks off the road to WrestleMania.
With that, the Forbidden Door has been opened yet again, and there’s even more buzz around IMPACT heading into this show.

Surprises, Ultimate X and the Forbidden Door: What to expect from Hard To Kill
As ever, IMPACT Wrestling has put together a stellar card on paper, and Hard To Kill looks almost certain to deliver in a big way.
Moose could keep his grip on the world title, while the Knockouts Championship match could go either way, although there will be plenty of fans hoping Mickie James retains.
Although under normal circumstances, Deonna Purrazzo would be a fine choice to dethrone the champ here in a brutal bout, the fact that Mickie has been announced for the Royal Rumble means there’s an opportunity to have the current Knockouts Champion walking out on a WWE event – and that feels too good to miss.

Elsewhere, Chelsea Green seems a fair bet to win the Ultimate X bout, while Steve Maclin could have his moment and win the X Division Title.
The Hardcore War should be an absolute chaotic mess in the best way with the babyfaces coming out on top, while JONAH will likely beat Josh Alexander to keep building momentum.
Finally, ROH World Champion Jonathan Gresham could well steal the show here as he makes a one-off appearance against Chris Sabin in what should be a genuine Match of the Year candidate.
Besides the card itself, there’s also the possibility of some surprises, especially after WWE opening the door with Mickie at the Rumble – it’s pure speculation, but could be see a Raw or SmackDown star turn up tonight?
