Trisha Goddard says her upcoming fourth marriage will more than likely be her last ‘because of [her] age’.

The TV presenter recently announced that she is engaged to a mystery man after he proposed during a casual walk, and flashed her engagement ring on social media.

Little is known about Trisha’s relationship but she did reveal she has known her partner for four years.

It will be the 64-year-old’s fourth marriage following her previous unions with Robert Nestdale, Mark Grieve and Peter Gianfrancesco.

During a discussion on Good Morning Britain about getting married more than once, presenter Susanna Reid asked Trisha if it will be her final time tying the knot, to which she replied: ‘Because of my age, probably yes,’ before joking: ‘This is the first marriage this century for me.’

Susanna later stated: ‘I think what Trisha is showing is an endless optimism about marriage.’

The former talk show host then defended her decision to marry again, explaining: ‘I think we marry for different reasons.

People have said to me, “Why are you marrying a fourth time?” I’m in my mid-60s and the bottom line is if one’s at the end of one’s life and you have next of kin and you’re not married…

‘Having been through breast cancer, my boo lost his first wife to cancer.

‘I was married for 20 years in my first marriage… I never ever thought I’d get married again at this age and to find someone who’s had experience of life and death is something unique and wonderful and we want to be forever.’

Trisha added that both their children are ‘absolutely happy for us’.

The TV star announced her engagement on January 3 in an Instagram post revealing her new ring, and wrote: ‘So mid-hike, I thought #boo was breaking out the usual snack of almonds or mandarins or bottles of water…

‘Ummm… Man broke out #jewelz, It g’wan be Mrs @boo well soon… Been together 4 years… He makes me laugh, looks after me, is a kid with me…’

‘When you 64 you more scared o’ yo’ kids than what yo’ Mammy and Pappy g’wan say! But moi? I’m on bloody Cloud Nine!!! Dis Man, innit!’
