Michelle Keegan has reflected on her past photo shoots for lads magazines in her younger years and admits that while she has no regrets, she wishes they were ‘done more tastefully’.

The former Our Girl actress appeared on the covers of lads mags such as FHM and Zoo in the noughties as her fame continued to soar.

In 2015, she was named FHM’s Sexiest Woman In The World in light of her racy photo shoots.

Looking back now, Michelle wouldn’t take back her decision to pose for the X-rated magazines but has some different feelings about the style.

Speaking to the Daily Mail’s You magazine, the actress explained: ‘I don’t regret doing them. At the time it was the norm and I don’t think I was taken advantage of. But I look back now and wish they’d been done a bit more tastefully.

‘Now I’m getting older I’ve learnt I can be in control more. I have got a voice. If I don’t feel that I want to do something in a particular way, I can always say, “No”.’

Michelle, 33, also opened up about her marriage to former Towie star Mark Wright and their decision to keep their relationship out of the spotlight.

The couple married almost six years ago and rarely share posts of each other on social media.

Their marriage has been cast under scrutiny in recent years with Michelle spending months away working on Our Girl in South Africa and Mark, 34, launching his career in Hollywood.

Both are now grounded back in the UK but Michelle hits back at the criticism of her working abroad for such lengthy stints.

The former Coronation Street star said: ‘Going away for work is never seen as a good thing, only as a negative, and I don’t understand that. Are you seriously supposed to turn down work in case it impacts your marriage? I find it ridiculous.

‘The travelling could be tiring but it was amazing. I remember taking off one weekend and spending it on a tropical beach and thinking, “I’m being paid to be in another country doing something I love”.’
