Holly Willoughby was overjoyed as she celebrated kids heading back to school across the UK today, saying ‘it’s the day we’ve been waiting for!’.

The presenter appeared with co-host Phillip Schofield on Monday’s This Morning, and looked jubilant as her children returned for the first time in two months.

Holly, like many relieved parents around the county, waved her kids off as they headed into school on Monday – and she shared her delight that homeschooling was over after eight weeks.

Phillip told viewers to ‘enjoy the peace and quiet’ as they pair headed outside to the This Morning garden.

‘Oh it’s lovely,’ Holly said, smiling ear to ear. ‘Is it nice and quiet in your house too?’

‘Well it should be because the kids are back in school guys!’ she said, punching the air. ‘It’s finally happened – the day we were waiting for!’

Speaking about her kids preparing for the big day, Holly said: ‘Harry was up, Belle got dressed at breakfast. They were ready to go.’

‘Chester was the least impressed about everything. He would rather be homeschooling I think, but at soon as he saw his friend Arthur, life was good again.’

The presenter then proceeded to ‘sit back and put her feet up’, as she looked very pleased the children were back with their friends at school.

Holly has been sharing updates of her family’s homeschooling on Instagram over lockdown, posting a picture of her children reading in January with the caption: ‘Eat, Sleep, Read, Repeat…’

It comes as Boris Johnson vowed to remain ‘cautious’ in easing the lockdown as pupils prepare to return to school.

The Prime Minister hailed the ‘truly national effort’ to reduce coronavirus levels with the country on the cusp of marking the first phase of lockdown easing as classrooms reopen this week.

This Morning airs on weekdays at 10am on ITV.
