F1 Championship Disappointment Runs ‘Very Deep’ for Lewis Hamilton According to Toto Wolff

Over a month since the race in Abu Dhabi, the socially active Lewis Hamilton remains mum. Awaiting a concrete solution from the FIA for the outcome of the decisions made in the championship-decider, Hamilton has even been at the center of retirement rumors. Although the star remains quiet, his boss and friend Toto Wolff shed light on the situation.

Wolff updated the community that Hamilton’s wounds from Abu Dhabi are far from healing. “It’s very deep.” Toto Wolff explains the cause of Hamilton’s grievous injury. “We love this sport because it’s honest. The stopwatch never lies. But if we break the fundamental principle of fairness and the stopwatch is no longer relevant, then you doubt this sport.”

Additionally, Wolff stated that Hamilton will take time to recover from the incident. ” That all your work, blood, sweat, and tears can be taken away from you. It’s going to take a long time to digest. I don’t think we’ll ever get over that, especially Lewis as a driver.”

Mercedes and Wolff have been fighting relentlessly for their driver. They have managed to put the governing body of motorsports under pressure to make better rules to prevent such a catastrophe.

Wolff demands justice for Lewis Hamilton

There is only one way to mend this wound, a solid solution presented by the FIA. “I expect actions and not just words. In a sport that’s supposed to be a sport, we can’t freestyle like that with the set of rules.”

Wolff added, “Before the start of the new season, there must be clarity about the rules so that every driver, team, and fan knows what is allowed and what is not.”

Criticizing the final lap decision as one made for entertainment, Wolff made a strong statement. “In the end we provide entertainment, but no decision should break the rules for the sake of the show.”

Thus as Mercedes and Hamilton await the FIA’s decision, the seven-time champion’s career is left in the hand of the board. Will the FIA come up with a solution good enough to give Hamilton to stay, or will the driver’s disappointment get the better of him?
