Thanasi Kokkinakis Makes a UFC Reference After Opponent’s Coach Threatens to Fight Him and Nick Kyrgios

The UFC is the biggest mixed martial arts promotion in the world. It has made the sport of MMA popular even among people that were never interested in it.

It is one of the biggest names in combat sports, let alone MMA. The company has some of the biggest stars on its roster and every year its value seems to increase. 2021 was the best year for the company, thanks to the number of high-profile events they were able to put together. MMA is now mainstream, and now and again, one can spot huge names and celebrities at the events. This helps the company reach even more people that aren’t into it and increases the market.

Now, it seems like stars from other sports are making its reference casually. Australian tennis star, Thanasi Kokkinakis, was the latest one to do so. He did so while replying to fellow countryman and his doubles partner at the Australian Open, Nick Kyrgios. Both men secured a fantastic upset win over the top seeds, Nikola Mektic and Mate Pavic, in the second round. However, after the match, the coach and trainer of the Croatian pair threatened to fight Kyrgios and Kokkinakis.

This prompted a reply from Kyrgios and sent out a tweet regarding the issue. He said, “Just letting you know after yesterday’s chop fest in doubles, my opponents coach and trainer proceeded to threaten to fight in the players gym. Tennis is a soft soft sport @TKokkinakis. All because I moved and hit them with a tennis ball.”

UFC is back with its first pay-per-view of 2022

UFC had a brilliant 2021. They were able to put together some of the biggest events in its history. And garnered even more fans. They will have high hopes from 2022 and would like to capitalize on last year’s success. The start of the year was great, as UFC Vegas 46 was a huge success. It saw some great fights, and the main event just lifted people off their seats.

Now, the first pay-per-view of the year, UFC 270, is just around the corner. It is a card packed with amazing fights, which include two huge title fights. One is a flyweight title trilogy fight between Brandon Moreno and Deiveson Figueiredo. There is no love lost between the two men, and everyone knows they will come to put a stop to each other. It is guaranteed to be an explosive fight.
