“F**king Love It!” – Romain Grosjean appeals to Toto Wolff for his F1 comeback After Virtual Mercedes Drive

Swiss driver Romain Grosjean had a premature exit from Formula 1 after his crash at the 2020 Bahrain GP. After recovering from a near-fatal crash, he competed in the US-based NTT IndyCar series in the 2021 season with Dale Coyne Racing. After a successful season with 272 points and 1 pole, he will appear with Andretti Autosport in 2022. However, Grosjean still carries that passion and grit for Formula 1, which he manifests in different forms.

Mercedes boss Toto Wolff offered Grosjean the chance to test its 2019 W10 car in 2021 but it got delayed due to travel restrictions. But the deal is still on the cards and Grosjean says he is keen on doing it. The focus, however, still lies at winning races of Andretti, according to the Swiss driver.

“Yes, it’s still on the cards. There were a few things last year that didn’t make it easy. But yes, we still want to do it, and if it happens, great. But the main focus is now trying to win races with Andretti.”

Grosjean plans on calling Mercedes F1 boss Toto Wolff

Romain Grosjean had an illustrious F1 career lasting over 10 seasons for many outfits. He entered 181 Grand Prix with 10 podium finishes and 391 points. His exit, however, was not the way any driver would want. Though he was not announced as a part of the 2021 lineup for any team, a lethal accident forced him to leave without a farewell.

Recently during a YouTube stream, Grosjean tried his hands on virtual motor racing. Towards the end of that stream, he switched to test drive mode instead of racing, in a Mercedes W-12 at Spa-Francorchamps. Many related this to an unfulfilled test drive Mercedes offered Grosjean last year.

Moving ahead, after a lap or so, Grosjean jokingly said that he will have a word with Toto Wolff after that drive. “I fu**** love it! I think when I’m done driving that car, I’m gonna call Toto”. Fans were loving this drive from Grosjean, even if it was in the virtual space. His comeback to an F1 cockpit is under process and fans might get to witness it soon.

For now, Grosjean has his heart in IndyCar, and his star rocketing success speaks for him. The 2022 17-race calendar in the NTT Indycar series is set to begin from February 27 through September 11. The inaugural race is in St. Petersburg and the season finale is scheduled to be held at the Laguna Seca.
