Gwyneth Paltrow is all of us as she gains 14 pounds in lockdown thanks to ‘wine, biscuits, crackers and cheese’
Gwyneth Paltrow has revealed that, like many of us, she turned to comfort food during the pandemic, gaining 14 pounds.
The Iron Man actress and Goop founder revealed that she found it difficult to stick to her healthy lifestyle in lockdown, and it’s all too relatable.
‘I was absolutely no holds barred,’ Gwyneth, 48, said at her In Goop Health – The At-Home Summit virtual event, according to E! News. ‘I gained 14 pounds and my gut was a mess.’
‘But I just didn’t want to do anything about it, really,’ she added. ‘I felt like my wine and my pasta and biscuits and crackers and cheese were getting me through.’
Gwyneth previously revealed that she battled coronavirus ‘early on’ in the pandemic and has still been suffering from some long-term effects.
Writing about her symptoms in a post on her lifestyle site Goop, the Oscar-winning actress explained: ‘I had Covid-19 early on, and it left me with some long-tail fatigue and brain fog.’
The 48-year-old also revealed how she had tests which ‘showed really high levels of inflammation’ in her body, and she has since been told she is facing a longer recovery time.
She added: ‘So I turned to one of the smartest experts I know in this space, the functional medicine practitioner Dr. Will Cole.
‘After he saw all my labs, he explained that this was a case where the road to healing was going to be longer than usual.’
Although long Covid is not yet a clinically defined illness, symptoms of it have been reported in a number of otherwise fit and healthy individuals, and may include tiredness, aches and pains, cognitive problems, and breathlessness.
Addressing her continued recovery, the actress went on to note she has been more focused on what she’s putting into her body, and has cut out sugar and alcohol.
Gwyneth also said her husband Brad Falchuk, 50, has suffered some long Covid symptoms.
Discussing the illness, she told People magazine: ‘He actually only got his taste and smell back in January, so nine months after he lost it.
‘But there’s so many people who are going through it and we’re getting better all the time.’
