Explosive Line Of Duty series 6 trailer teases ‘lies will cost lives’

A brand new Line Of Duty series 6 trailer has promised drama at every turn as Vicky McClure, Adrian Dunbar and Martin Compston return to the AC-12 team.

The upcoming chapter, which is due to be released later this month, also welcomes Kelly Macdonald who makes her debut as guest lead Detective Chief Inspector Joanne Davidson – a senior investigating officer on an unsolved murder case whose suspicious conduct attracts the attention of Anti-Corruption.

Judging from the 60-second teaser, DCI Davidson’s arrival doesn’t bode well for the crew and it looks like she could turn out to be their most dangerous adversary yet.

Hastings, Fleming and Arnott investigate her unconventional conduct as the SIO of an unsolved murder that occurred one year earlier – and they don’t like what they uncover.

The trailer promises gunfire, high-speed police chases, and allegations of being set up and it also seems as though at least one character will be killed off as text warns: ‘Lies cost lives’.

But who will end up in a body bag?

Speaking to The Times Saturday Review, the 36-year-old said: ‘I’m so glad that it isn’t part of the show. It’s consuming our lives at the moment, it’s on every f***ing news channel every day.

‘It will be nice that there’s an hour on a Sunday night for seven weeks where it’s not mentioned.’

Although series 6 hasn’t yet aired, creator Jed Mercurio has hinted there may be even more to come from AC-12.

Speaking on the Out to Lunch podcast, he teased: ‘What I do know is that season six proves there is much more ground for us still to cover and then in terms of other projects…I really want to carry on with Line of Duty as I think it still got some ground to cover.’

Line Of Duty returns on Sunday 21st March at 9pm on BBC One.
