Daniil Medvedev started the new season on a losing note, going down fighting to Ugo Humbert of France in a three-setter thriller at the ATP Cup in Sydney, Australia. However, the soon-to-be World Number 1 has come back strongly since then.

The Russian is on a nine-match winning streak with yesterday’s victory. He defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas in a high-voltage encounter to enter his second consecutive Australian Open final.

In a match where a lot was at stake, emotions flared up. Chiefly, the Russian was in the news for all the wrong reasons during the match.

Daniil Medvedev may face hefty fines for his semifinals rant

The 25-year-old was not happy with Stefanos Tsitsipas’ father talking too much during the match and giving him coaching advice. He burst out at the chair umpire that Tsitsipas’ father “is talking every point”. Further, he even went on to say, “His father can talk every point?! Are you stupid? His father can talk every point?! Oh my god! Oh my god you are so bad, man! How can you be so bad in semifinals of Grand Slam?”

Medvedev is LIVID. Screaming at the umpire that Tsitsipas’ father “is talking every point”.

Medvedev gets a ‘visible obscenity’ code violation & flips the f out.

Additionally, Daniil Medvedev asked umpire Jaume Campistol to issue a code violation to Stefanos Tsitsipas for illegal coaching. He said, “If you don’t, you are… how can I call it… a small cat.” Subsequently, Medvedev will have to face action after his unruly behavior at the Rod Laver Arena.

Earlier in the tournament, Canadian Denis Shapovalov had shouted at the chair umpire Carlos Bernardes in the quarterfinals. He felt that the umpire was showing favoritism to Rafael Nadal and not penalizing him for delays. Further, he even went on to say, “You guys are all corrupt.

Subsequently, Denis Shapovalov received the biggest fine of the tournament, $8,000 for his outburst and unsportsmanlike conduct. The second seed surely will be fined as well.
