“Failure Is Our Fuel” – Kayla Harrison Says Amanda Nunes’s Loss Is a Great Opportunity for Her
Julianna Pena shocked the world at UFC 269. She took on Amanda Nunes for the women’s bantamweight title and came into the fight as a heavy underdog. However, she managed to pull off one of the biggest upsets in MMA history.
After taking some heavy shots in the first round, she put pressure on the Brazilian. ‘The Venezuelan Vixen’ was able to rally back and submitted Nunes in the second round. The result shocked everyone across the world, and among them was her teammate, Kayla Harrison. In a recent interview, she talked about the result.
She said, “I think I was just in shock, I think the whole world was in shock. I think Amanda was in shock. Credit to Julianna, she executed a great game plan. She pressured her early, and she ate those big shots and wasn’t afraid to keep coming forward. It’s a smart game plan.”
“Failure is our fuel. It’s our opportunity to grow. We don’t grow if we don’t get challenged and I think this is a great opportunity for Amanda to grow,” she added.
Harrison was training with ‘The Lioness’ at American Top Team before her fight with Pena. Since the win, the new champion has been calling for a rematch against the Brazilian.
Nunes would be itching to make a comeback and seems to have made necessary changes to get back to the top.
