Dick and Dom are banned from TikTok because their name is ‘too rude’: ‘No-one can search for us!’

Dick and Dom have revealed that fans won’t be seeing them on TikTok – because their name means they aren’t allowed to make an account.
The children’s TV duo, made up of Richard McCourt, 45, and Dominic Wood, 44, have revealed they tried to make an account but their ‘rude’ name means they wouldn’t be searchable anyway.
The pair, who created and hosted Dick and Dom In Da Bungalow from 2002 to 2006, reportedly fell foul of the video sharing app’s restrictions.
They revealed on Instagram: ‘How the hell are we supposed to join TikTok? We can’t sign up and no one can search for us.’
Their ‘rude’ name means anyone searching for their account is met with a message reading: ‘This phrase may be associated with behaviour or content that violates our guidelines. Promoting a safe and positive experience is TikTok’s top priority.’
While they may not be appearing on Tiktok anytime soon, the pair also shut down hopes that their show might return, revealing that it wouldn’t fly in today’s world.
Dom said last year: ‘We got people to hold puppies, which would lick dog food off vases, it was very funny. The dogs were happy, but nowadays that just would not be allowed.’
The pair’s pranks on the show were famously criticised in the House of Commons in 2005, with senior MP Peter Luff inviting the then culture secretary Tessa Jowell into his office to view the show, which he considered inappropriate for young viewers and not something the BBC should be broadcasting.

He said: ‘You can join me in playing How Low Can You Bungalow?, a test to see your response to grossly embarrassing personal situations, largely of a lavatorial nature; Pants Dancers in the Hall of Fame, photos of children with underwear on their heads; Make Dick Sick, a game which I think speaks for itself; and finally Bunged Up, in which you play a character in a sewerage system avoiding turtle poos coming from various lavatories.

The BBC spoke out in defence of the double BAFTA-winning show at the time, saying in a statement: ‘Dick and Dom in da Bungalow remains one of the most popular shows, which transmits both on The CBBC Channel and BBC One.
‘The show and presenters won children’s BAFTAs in 2004. It is pure fun and entertainment, aimed at 8-12 year-olds, so it is unsurprising that it doesn’t appeal to some adults.’
