Red Bull F1 Boss Gives His Updated Take On Controversial Michael Masi Conundrum

The 2021 season finale was certainly one of the most controversial races in the history of F1. The manner in which the championship was decided did not impress the Mercedes AMG team and the F1 fans. There has been a lot of blame put on F1 race director Michael Masi for how he handled the situation. Unsurprisingly, Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has come out in support of the Australian.

Horner mentioned F1 needs to provide more support to Michael and his team of officials.

The Red Bull team boss stated, ” The new president has put a key focus on this. I think there is a big drive to make sure that the race director has better support. The tools that we have at our disposal are far in advance of out of Michael and his team. 

So I think there has been a lot of focus on that over the winter and you’ll see that role better supported, which will help in enabling decisions to be easier and swifter. I think we also need to look at the regulations to simplify some of those as well.”

Abu Dhabi controversy not a downer on Verstappen’s win: Red Bull team boss

While speaking to Sky Sports, the Red Bull team principal mentioned the ongoing controversy has not hampered the celebrations of Max Verstappen‘s championship win.

The team boss claimed that the team and the Dutch driver celebrated the achievement how it should be celebrated. He also took a dig at the media for reporting a lot about the controversy.

” Well, not really, because the only ones talking about it is you guys. We thoroughly enjoyed getting that championship victory and obviously focus is now on 2022. 2021 is already history, but we are excited about the season ahead,” said Christian.

It is interesting to hear the comments of Horner on the issue as his team was the one that benefited from that controversy. But it is nice to see that he is backing the current race director and providing him support in this difficult time.
