Oscars 2022: Beyonce lands first-ever nomination for King Richard soundtrack against Billie Eilish’s No Time To Die

Beyonce is one step closer to EGOT territory as she landed her very first Oscar nomination for original song.
The nominations for the Academy Awards were announced earlier this morning, with Tracee Ellis Ross and Leslie Jordan doing the honors.
Bey was named in the category for original song for her Be Alive banger, in the soundtrack for King Richard.
She will be battling tough competition for the gong, alongside Billie Eilish hit No Time To Die, from the James Bond flick of the same name, and Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Dos Oruguitas from Encanto.
Down To Joy from Belfast, by Van Morrison, and Diane Warren’s track Four Good Days Somehow You Do have also been named in the category.
Fans went into meltdown over the news, flocking to Twitter to celebrate Queen Bey’s nod.
‘Congratulations Academy Award nominee @Beyonce! #BeAlive #Oscars,’ a delighted follower wrote.
‘Beyoncé and Billie Eilish performing on the same stage on the same night makes so much sense with my fantasy #Oscars,’ a Twitter user replied.
One posted: ‘Hopefully the #Oscars get it right this time. Because Beyoncé killed that song.’
‘#Oscars Beyonce congratulations on THOSE HARMONIES,’ another screamed.
As a fan added: ‘King Richard deserves!! Congrats to Will Smith, Aunjanue Ellis, and Beyoncé!!! #OscarNoms #Oscars.’
Kristen Steward, Olivia Colman and Andrew Garfield were also among the names nominated for Oscars ahead of the ceremony, taking place next month.
The Spencer actress was missed off the list at the SAG Awards and the Baftas, but was tipped for leading actress for her portrayal of the late Princess Diana.
Jessica Chastain, Olivia Colman, Penelope Cruz and Nicole Kidman have also landed nominations in the same category, with Lady Gaga snubbed for House of Gucci.

While Bey’s King Richard colleague Will Smith is leading the way for best actor, alongside Javier Bardem, Benedict Cumberbatch, Andrew Garfield and Denzel Washington.
They will of course be fighting it out for the big award on the night, with 10 films nominated for best picture.
Tracee and Leslie confirmed that the category for the coveted gong is made up of Belfast, CODA, Don’t Look Up, Drive My Car, Dune, King Richard, Licorice Pizza, Nightmare Alley, The Power Of The Dog and West Side Story.
Thankfully, we won’t be waiting too long to find out the results, with the ceremony taking place on March 27 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
