Disney drops trailer for Lightyear as Chris Evans takes Toy Story fans on an intergalactic adventure

The official trailer for Lightyear has landed!
Disney dropped the trailer for the animation this afternoon, giving fans a glimpse of Chris Evans as Buzz.
The preview sees the toy Space Ranger preparing for his big space flight, with the film promising both action and comedy.
Evans voices the iconic character, who also gains the companionship of a robot cat named Sox who brings plenty of laughs and is voiced by Peter Sohn.
Pixar provides fans with an insight into Buzz Lightyear’s origin story with this highly-anticipated film.
The sci-fi action movie is about Buzz as a character – not a toy – as he and a crew of human space explorers attempt to survive in an alien world after a mission goes wrong.

Talking about the film, director Angus MacLane said ‘Buzz’s world was always something I was excite about.’
‘In Toy Story there seemed to be this incredible backstory to him being a Space Ranger that’s only touched upon, and I always wanted to explore that world further,’ he said.
‘So my Lighytear pitch was, “What was the movie that Andy saw that made him want a Buzz Lightyear toy?” I wanted to see that movie. And now I’m lucky enough to get to make it.’
We first met Buzz in the Toy Story franchise way back in 1995.
Now, Captain America star Evans is joined by his space ranger compatriots — voiced by Keke Palmer, Dale Soules, and Taika Waititi.
The director has also spoken about his decision to the Avengers star as the titular character.
‘I wanted the film to have like a gravitas to it and a seriousness to it, but also have an actor who could bring comedy with that seriousness. He was really the first and only choice. I didn’t have a number two,’ he share.

The filmmaker said ‘it was very clear from the get-go’ that he was the man for the job.
‘It was like, “If you were gonna make a legitimate sci-fi film about Buzz Lightyear, who would you get? Well, Chris Evans.”‘
Lightyear drops on June 17.
