My partner never climaxes now she’s going through the menopause

DEAR DEIDRE: MY partner used to love foreplay and would orgasm before we’d even had sex. Now that never happens.

I’d like her to enjoy sex as much as she used to. We have been together for 17 years.

I try to make it good for her but she says: “Don’t worry, you carry on, I’m fine”

No issue is too small, too large or too embarrassing. Read our personal replies here.

She is 52 and I’m 55. We always had such a great sex life.

She’s said previous partners never bothered making it fun for her.

She’d be up for anything and liked to dress up for me but that’s all stopped. I try to make it good for her but she says: “Don’t worry, you carry on. I’m fine.”

Improving sex for her would make it much better for me.

DEIDRE SAYS: Women can enjoy intimacy and while an orgasm is lovely, being desired feels good too.

As your wife is in her fifties, she may be perimenopausal and some of her hormones won’t be as strong as they were.

A whole host of symptoms are associated with menopause, so if she is worried, suggest she talk to her GP who can refer her to a menopause clinic.

My support pack called Love And The Mature Woman explains more.
