Brit Awards 2022: Little Simz’s mum steals the show as she makes a beeline for Tom Daley and cries on-stage

Little Simz may have an even bigger star in her family as her adorable mother won the hearts of the nation at the Brit Awards 2022.
The Woman rapper won her first ever Brit tonight taking home the coveted best new artist following a phenomenal year that saw her release her critically acclaimed album Sometimes I Might Be Introvert.
However, her moment was hilariously overshadowed by her mum’s sweet reaction to her win.
As they took to the stage, Little Simz’s mother made a beeline straight for Tom Daley who presented the award and threw her arms around him for a warm hug.
Her mum then cradled the award and became overwhelmed with emotion, breaking down in tears.
Dedicating the award to her mum, Little Simz said: ‘Look at what you done, mum. Look at what you done.’

Acknowledging her humble beginnings, the rapper said: ‘ I want to say thank you to everyone that’s supporting me on this journey so far. My name is Simbiatu Ajikawo I’m from north London, Islington. Grew up on a council estate, I’m an independent artist and to be here tonight, receiving this award is such a blessing. I’m so grateful.’
Reacting to her mum’s special appearance, one viewer tweeted: ‘Sobbed over @LittleSimz and her gorgeous Mum!’
Another wondered: ‘Can Little Simz’s Mum host next year’s #brits please?’

Earlier in the evening, actress Emma Corrin made a surprise appearance during Little Simz’ performance at London’s O2 Arena.
During the performance, The Crown actress appeared wearing an all-white outfit including a white headdress.

The Brit Awards airs live on ITV from 8pm.
