New York Yankees Signing Freddie Freeman From Atlanta Braves Could Be Impacted by New MLB Rule

Even after the lockout has not ended in Major League Baseball, baseball fans and players are getting excited about the new season with each passing day. On the other hand, MLB teams are the most troubling side because of the lockout. Notably, no team can sign any player until the lockout ends. And when MLB League Commissioner Rob Manfred announced two new rules in MLB, it became more difficult for MLB teams to sign any player.

When talking about the new signing, many teams are desperate to end the lockout and sign their desired players. And the current World Series holder Atlanta Braves are one such team, who are trying hard to keep their talisman, Freddie Freeman, by their side. But after the two new rules – A universal DH and the removal of draft pick compensation – it will get tougher for the Braves to sign Freeman.

New York Yankees’ interest in Freddie Freeman

Considering his playing ability, any team would love to have a player like Freeman in their squad. And apart from the Braves, New York Yankees are reportedly among the teams who have shown their interest in the star free agent.

When MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred announced the two major changes from the next season onwards, most of the teams might haven’t liked it at all. Because it will only complicate their already complicated plans for the new signings.

From the 2022 season onwards, just like the American League teams, a universal DH (designated hitter) will be allowed in the National League too. And apart from this, now the draft pick compensation has also been removed from this season.

With these two rules implemented from this season, the market value of Freddie Freeman will reach a new high. And that will only make it difficult for both the Braves and the Yankees to go for the star-free agent.
