Love Island star Chris Hughes had a close call while driving as he was involved in a motorway crash.

The reality star, 25, is understandably quite shaken after his incident, which left his car in ‘a sorry state’.

Thankfully, Chris doesn’t seem to have suffered any serious injury but was left with a ‘sore neck’ after the crash.

Taking to Instagram stories, Chris revealed he had been in a collision on Sunday night, and shared footage of the wreckage.

He told his 2.1 million Instagram followers: ‘Had a crash on the motorway last night and my car’s in a sorry state, neck’s sore but home to this’, showing that his girlfriend had a sweet Valentine’s Day set-up waiting for him.

The set-up included photographs of the pair, roses, a candle and a sign saying ‘Will you be my Valentine?’

She also added painkillers, muscle rub, a drink and another sign with the words: ‘For my brave boy’.

The star went on to share a short clip of the scene of the accident, with Chris’ car stopped dead in the road and a part of the vehicle visible on the ground beside it, and thanked two people who came to his aid.

‘Not fun,’ he wrote.

‘But 2 amazing people stopped to help and they were the best. One was in the RAF and the other just came from work, so thanks both (sic).’

He added: ‘I actually was useless in the situation and bit meh, so didn’t know what to do.’

Despite the scare, Chris appears to be doing well, and on Monday shared multiple updates of his day with girlfriend Annabel Dimmock as they spent Valentine’s Day together.

Chris and Annabel went official in August 2021, after Chris’s previous relationship with former Little Mix star Jesy Nelson came to an end.

Annabel, 24, is a successful golfer, first turning pro in 2016 and having since played six seasons in the professional golfing circuit.

The couple yesterday spent their day on a ‘love walk’ in the countryside before relaxing for a romantic night in a pod, by the fire, with a projector playing Titanic.

Since competing in Love Island four years ago, Chris has presented live horse racing coverage with ITV Racing and starred in the BBC Three documentary Me, My Brother And Our Balls.
