Olympian Makes an INSANE Comeback From Earning One Point in First Run to Clinching the Gold Medal at Beijing Winter Olympics 2022

In a fierce NBA clash, the Cleveland Cavaliers once came back from a 3-1 deficit to defeat the Golden State Warriors. Similarly, in tennis, Rafael Nadal made a stunning comeback from 2 sets down to win this Australian Open. Indeed, these are remarkable feats. However, the Beijing Winter Olympics just saw the mother of all comebacks. Switzerland’s Mathilde Gremaud won the women’s Freeski slopestyle final, coming back from an inferior 1.00 in her first run.

While the gold medalist in the big air competition, Eileen Gu, finished second, it was a moment to remember for the sensational Gremaud, who won her first gold medal in the Olympics.

A stunning comeback at Beijing Winter Olympics

With Eileen Gu, the favorite to win the competition and leading halfway, it required a monumental effort from the Swiss skier Gremaud. The 22-year-old qualified for the final by finishing 12th. However, all her plans did not come to fruition after her first run as she lost her ski.

However, coming back from behind, Gremaud knocked Gu out of the gold medal position and scored 86.56. While Gu was lingering down in eighth place, she too made a comeback and claimed the silver medal. She scored 86.23 in her final run.
