Texas Chainsaw Massacre star Nell Hudson ‘scarred for life’ after filming gruesome scene

Texas Chainsaw Massacre actress Nell Hudson has opened up about one particular gory scene in the new sequel that has left her ‘scarred for life’. 

The new instalment of the iconic horror franchise hits Netflix today and is a direct follow-up to the 1974 original, following Leatherface and his bloody massacre of out-of-towners. 

Directed by David Blue Garcia, the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre boasts a new cast, including Sarah Yarkin, Jacob Latimore and Outlander actress Nell.

The British star appears in a very gruesome scene that will no doubt leave viewers watching from behind a pillow. 

It was a gruelling scene to watch but also to film as Nell told Metro.co.uk: ‘It’s an incredibly tense scene and I really internalised that tension into my body and doing take after take of holding that suspense for that amount of time, and then going through a stunt sequence that was really adrenaline-fuelled really takes its toll on you physically. 

‘So on the day you’re really pumped up with adrenaline and it can be kind of fun and exhilarating to shoot that.’ 

Recalling the physical impact, Nell then laughed: ‘I went for a massage the day after shooting that scene and the Bulgarian masseuse told me that I was “very, very bad”, after touching my back. 

‘So I think my body was quite messed up afterwards, but it was nothing a massage couldn’t fix.’ 

Longtime fans of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise will no doubt be struck by the modern Gen-Z feel to the new sequel, which perfectly manages to bring us into current times while still capturing the fear of the previous instalments. 

Nell said: ‘You have to reflect what the world and your audience looks like and you have to stay relevant.

‘The people who see this film will, I imagine, be younger, but you’ll also have fans of the original as well. I think even in the context of horror, for me as an actress it’s important for the characters to feel real and two-dimensional otherwise it’s never going to be a gripping story.’ 

The Victoria actress continued: ‘I think people love a bit of nostalgia, we see that happening not just in horror but across a lot of genres. The reboot, the prequel,  sequel, origin story is really massive. There’s just so much to watch and stream these days that there’s something quite nice about seeing a familiar name.’

There will no doubt be calls for another sequel to follow-up the 2022 movie and Nell has high hopes, teasing: ‘I think based on how it ends you could definitely explore what happens next. I think that Leatherface is a character that people don’t get tired of, I think that this one is a real standout. 

‘Legendary have done an amazing job so hopefully there will be another one.’
