The Walking Dead’s Lauren Cohan reacts to the show’s latest devastating death

Warning: spoilers ahead for The Walking Dead season 11 episode 9.
Fans of The Walking Dead know by now to never get attached to a character: it’s ever too long before the zombies come after them.
But viewers of the most recent episode were left particularly heartbroken at Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and her choice to leave Alden (Callan McAuliffe) behind in her mission to take back Meridien.
By the end of the episode, Alden was zombified before Maggie could return to him and she was forced to kill him.
The episode ended the war with enemy troop the Reapers, with food and supplies gained for a struggling Alexandria, but at what cost?
Speaking to Comicbook.com, Lauren revealed whether it was worth Maggie leaving Alden behind as the ‘dead weight’ he described himself as in his last moments on screen.
Lauren said: ‘I don’t know. I don’t know if she does [feel like it was worth it].
‘It certainly doesn’t feel like it.
‘I don’t know. It’s hard to say because it costs them so much.’

And it seems fans felt the same way as the episode came to a close, although many were dedicated to Maggie fulfilling her mission for the greater good, with one calling Lauren’s acting ‘badass and amazing’ and another applauding her ‘beast mode.’
Lauren added: ‘Like Father Gabriel says at the end of the episode, “So many didn’t make it. All so we could survive.”
‘The balance of war is always a very difficult thing to know, and to know the cost, and to understand, and to justify the cost.
