But the loose slinky fabric is hard to get to sit right and people often feel swamped by the dresses unless they’re the perfect size.

Influencer Carolina shared her handy hack for getting your shift dress to nip in perfectly – and it doesn’t require any alterations.
She uploaded a short video to TikTok with the caption: “How to make your dress fit perfectly.”
Carolina then showed herself in the shapeless dress and instructed viewers on how to adapt it to sit perfectly.

She started by turning the dress back-to-front and inside-out.
Next she put a safety pin on the seems on each side at the height of the smallest part of her waist.
She then threaded a string through both safety pins and tied it to synch the dress in.

Finally she turned it back around and showed off the perfectly fitted shift dress.
Fellow TikTokers were quick to comment on the nifty hack.
One said: “Bought a dress like this yesterday and was going to get it altered! Thank you!”
