Emotional moment Loose Women star Brenda Edwards sings Whitney Houston at son Jamal’s vigil

THIS is the heart-wrenching moment Jamal Edwards’s mum sings Whitney Houston’s The Greatest Love of All to hushed crowds at his candlelit vigil.

Loose Women star Brenda sang to mourners: “Learning to love yourself – it is the greatest love of all,” following her music pioneer’s sudden death on Sunday.

Jamal Edwards MBE, 31, died from a heart attack – he was the man behind YouTube sensation SBTV, which helped to launch the careers of Ed Sheeran, Jessie J, and Stormzy.

He was also an ambassador for the Prince’s Trust, a charity headed by the Prince of Wales, and in 2014 he was awarded an MBE for his services to music.

At a candlelit vigil for the 31-year-old held in his hometown of Acton, West London, Brenda moved friends, family and fans of Jamal to tears as the brave mum paid a tribute to her son.

Speaking through a megaphone she urged crowds: “If we can do anything in 2022, can we please bring the community together.

“Stop the fighting. Stop the killing. And build up our community. We are not supposed to be losing our young people.

“If you see something happening. Try to stop it please.”

Jamal tragically died from a heart attack following a night performing as a DJ at Bubba Oasis in Angel, North London on Saturday night, MailOnline reports.

Police said the creative mogul’s death is not being treated as suspicious, but is being treated as unexplained, meaning there will likely be an inquest into how exactly he died.

Bubba Oasis owner Rob Huysinga told MailOnline: “We had a great night. Jamal made everybody smile and brought a lot of joy to all of those that were there, as he usually does.

“He finished at around 11.30pm and there was absolutely nothing wrong with him. It was just Jamal being his incredible, wonderful self.

“He had a great, positive energy which all of us felt that night felt it. We are all devastated because of what’s happened, it’s really shocking.”

At the vigil, scores of mourners can be seen gathering to lay flowers, photos and mementos to Jamal below a mural of his face, which was put up last year.

It comes after his heartbroken mum Brenda Edwards broke her silence on the devastating news in a statement – expressing her “deepest heartache” as she revealed her son died from a “sudden illness”.

Loose Women star Brenda, 52, said:  “It is with the deepest heartache that I confirm that my beautiful son Jamal Edwards passed away yesterday morning after a sudden illness. Myself, his sister Tanisha and the rest of his family and friends are completely devastated.

“He was the centre of our world. As we come to terms with his passing we ask for privacy to grieve this unimaginable loss.

“I would like to thank everyone for their messages of love and support. Jamal was an inspiration to myself and so many.

“Our love for him lives on, his legacy lives on. Long live Jamal Edwards MBE, MBA, PHD.”

And in the sad days since his death, scores of celebs have paid tribute to the star – who was well-loved in showbiz circles after launching the careers of a raft of Brit stars.

Following the announcement, singer Rita Ora, who said her first ever interview was with Edwards, wrote alongside a series of snaps on Instagram: “Our endless talks on music and the belief you had in me and so many of us before we even believed in ourselves. I’m devastated.

“No words can describe how grateful I am to of been in your presence. Thank you for all you ever showed me.”

And TV and radio presenter Fearne Cotton said: “Completely heartbreaking. Jamal you were the most special person.

“I adored hanging out with you, chatting about life and big dreams.

“You’re creativity and passion for nurturing new talent will never be forgotten.”

The likes of Big Narstie, Emily Atak, Ghetts, Dua Lipa and Denise Welch also paid tribute to the star.

And Prince Charles said in a statement: “Thinking of the family of Jamal Edwards today. His work in music but also as an ambassador for a new generation, including his work for The Prince’s Trust, were an inspiration to so many.”
