Jonathan Ross less than impressed when he learns he’s related to Alan Carr

Chatty Man Alan Carr has revealed he and another major TV star are in fact related.

Alan, 45, is distantly related to Jonathan Ross, 59 – but the presenter was none too happy when he found out.

The pair learned of the connection at a Halloween party at Jonathan’s house, when Jonathan’s late mum excitedly told the comedian they were related

Alan recalled the moment on his Life’s A Beach podcast, where he had on his newfound family member as a guest.

Alan said: ‘People might not know this but your lovely late mum came up to me at your Halloween party and said “We’re related, aren’t we?!”‘

A laughing Alan went on: ‘I was so excited because we come from the same area, we are distantly related.

‘And I remember going over to you [saying] “Jonathan, Jonatahan! Your mum says we’re related!”

‘And you went, “For f*** sake!”‘

As Alan let out a peal of laughter, Jonathan interjected: ‘I’d try to stop her talking to people because she would always find some tenuous connection.’

Jonathan added: ‘I don’t know if I want to be involved with you!’ to which Alan replied simply: ‘F*** off!’

‘I saw your episode of Who Do You Think You Are,’ Jonathan teased. ‘You’ve got a deserter in your family. I don’t know if I want to be tarnished by that.’

In 2011, Alan appeared on the iconic show where he learned that his maternal great-grandfather, Henry Carter, was a World War I deserter – however Jonathan said that if he and Alan had been in the same position they likely would have done the same thing.

Jonathan then admitted that yes, in fact, they are related, but continued ribbing Alan when he said ‘thanks God’ they don’t look alike.

Easing the burn slightly, Jonathan went on: ‘Neither of us got looks, let be honest.

‘But you scrub up well!’ he added. ‘You just don’t do it very often.’

Jonathan is currently a celebrity judge on ITV’s The Masked Singer, the newest series of which concluded earlier this month with none other than Natalie Imbruglia revealed as the winner.

Meanwhile, Alan has most recently made headlines for being named in the shortlist for the British LGBT Awards 2022, alongside massive names including Dua Lipa, Olly Alexander and Lady Gaga.
