Dancing On Ice’s Regan Gascoigne wants to join forces for TV show with footballing legend dad Paul: ‘He’s so proud’

Dancing On Ice favourite Regan Gascoigne has addressed the possibility of a joint TV venture with his dad Paul Gascoigne after his stint on the ITV skating contest comes to an end.

Regan has thoroughly impressed the judging panel on Dancing on Ice as well as viewers at home, with his slick routines and incredible moves. 

One person who is particularly proud of Regan is his famous dad Paul, who’s been cheering him on from the sidelines throughout the process. 

Paul – also known as Gazza – was in the Dancing on Ice audience earlier this month with Regan’s sister Bianca when he became tearful watching him skate to the musical Singin’ in the Rain.

Chatting to Lorraine Kelly on Wednesday morning alongside pro partner Karina Manta, he shared how much he’d love to work with his dad in the future. 

Lorraine remarked: ‘Your dad, I thought he was going to explode with happiness when he was watching you.

‘He – and your mum – are very proud of you?’ she probed, with Regan responding: ’Yeah, they’re all so proud.’

‘It’s lovely, it’s very nice, lots of people have talked about the two of you doing a show together, would you ever consider that?

‘I know, I think it would be so fun!

‘I don’t know what’s going to happen after this, but if we did get to do that, it would be amazing,’ he told her.

Lorraine remarked: ‘I think it would be lovely because you’ve got a great bond and would bring out a side to him people haven’t seen before.’

Paul was also shown on camera ahead of Regan’s debut skate last month, where he was left in tears over his pride for his son. 

In Regan’s introductory videotape, the former England footballer said: ‘The minute you were born, I was proud, son.’

Regan replied: ‘As long as I’ve got your support.’

The sporting legend, 54, continued: ‘No doubt when you come on stage I’ll be proud,’ as he choked up and said: ‘I’m getting emotional now!’

We’d definitely love to see the pair on camera together more often.

Elsewhere, Regan revealed just how prone he is to injuries as the competition toughens up further.

He told Lorraine: ‘Even when you think you know what you’re doing and you have the routine in your head – like the other day when we were just on the practice rink, I went flying and landed up on my back literally on something that I had been doing so easily. It just happens.’

Regan added: ‘I’m a little battered and bruised. Both of my knees have always got knee supports on, they’re a bit swollen. I’ve popped my shoulder out!’

Dancing On Ice airs Sundays from 6pm on ITV.
