Dancing On Ice’s Regan Gascoigne ‘battered and bruised’ after ‘popping his shoulder out’ in brutal accident on the rink

DANCING On Ice star Regan Gascoigne revealed that he suffered a nasty accident that saw him pop his shoulder out this week.

The 26-year-old, who is the son of Paul Gascoigne, appeared on today’s Lorraine alongside his skating partner Karina Manta and revealed his terrifying slip on the ice.

Discussing his training for this week’s show, Regan, who is favourite to win, admitted that he landed on his back while practising on the rink.

He said: “One tiny little movement can throw you. It sounds so stupid because it is so slippery but it is so slippery to a point where you’re like, you have no control but you genuinely don’t.

“Even when you think you know what you’re doing and you have the routine in your head…

“… Like the other day when we were just on the practice rink, I went flying and landed up on my back literally on something that I had been doing so easily – it just happens.”

Lorraine pointed out: “You have to be absolutely focused all of the time. How is the little body? Is it bruised?

To which Reagan admitted: “A little battered and bruised! Both of my knees have always got knee supports on, they’re a bit swollen, popped my shoulder out.”

The contestant’s terrifying slip comes after DOI fans claimed that the judges have been overmarking ‘show favourite’ Regan.

Earlier this month, viewers watched as Love Island’s Liberty Poole was sent packing even though Regan and Happy Mondays’ Bez also suffered a few off-balance moments.

Regan and his profession skating partner Karina Manta performed a serpent-inspired dance to Ed Sheeran’s hit track, Shivers.

The normally confident performer got the wobbles and almost fell over three times.

But that didn’t seem to matter to the judges who gave him surprisingly high marks.

The panel of Ashley Banjo, Oti Mabuse, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean gave them 36.5, their highest score to date.

Regan admitted feeling disappointed that he’d been a bit wobbly, with the judges rushing to reassure him.

“It is okay to stumble. It makes you human, so well done for carrying on after that,” Oti told him.

Christopher added: “That was going to be the skate of the series for me, but you make a stumble and your marks go down.”

But those comments and marks confused ITV viewers who took to Twitter to complain.

“WHAT was with the marking tonight? Regan got a 9.5 despite 4 slips. On the basis they knock off 0.5 per error that means Jane would originally have given him 11.5! I think he’s superb, but HIS slips were more forgivable than the others,” complained one fan.

Another wrote: “Bit of a p**s take Regan got the same score as Kimberly when she skated amazingly and he stumbled a good few times! The judges have their favourites it’s so unsubtle too!”

And a third added: “I haven’t even seen Regan’s skate yet and I’m super super annoyed that he got 9.5 even though he nearly fell 3 times. Wth!! He’s definitely the judges’ favourite.”
