Xbox’s Massive Integration Fails To Connect With the Brand’s Loyal Fans

If you are a creator on Twitch, then the latest update from Xbox might strike you fancy. The purple platform is synonymous with streaming and is the place where many future sensations got their start. Twitch has directly contributed to transforming streaming from a secluded niche into a mainstream career.

Be it Pokimane, Mizkif, or Amouranth. If you follow these creators, you must be one of the millions who visit the platform daily. Given that the platform is a mainstay of the gaming industry, it is not surprising to see huge brands like Xbox willing to incorporate it into their platforms. Accordingly, Xbox recently announced it would incorporate Twitch into its interface.

Creating on Twitch is as easy as 1, 2, 3.

Step 1: Sit down
Step 2: Turn on your Xbox
Step 3: Go live

Xbox brings Twitch to its dashboard

Twitch first made its debut on Team Green’s platform in 2014. It used the Snap interface on the Xbox One, enabling users to stream directly to the service. However, following Microsoft’s brief foray into streaming with Mixer, it removed that functionality in 2017.

But fans can rejoice as Twitch streaming would once more be available on the Xbox dashboard. Users can access it under the Capture and Share tab of the Xbox Guide. From there, they can simply link their twitch accounts to access the streaming features. The Xbox announcement tweet details three simple steps users can follow to access the service.

“Step 1: Sit down

Step 2: Turn on your Xbox

Step 3: Go live”

The community has had mixed reactions to the tweet as some fans are already having trouble with the feature.

I’m trying to link my Twitch to my Xbox account & it’s not working. Gets stuck on the verification process. Googled a remedy & this has been a problem for many for over a year?! I know some ppl were successful with linking. I don’t get a QR code either. What gives??

This user wants more features related to overlays, camera and microphone.

Add more features. Mic doesn’t sync to your lips unless you unplug and replug. Can’t zoom or place cam exactly where you want it. Can’t add an overlay. No alerts. Nothing.

Game chat remains a pressing issue for some.

What about the game chat? Because we can include the xbox live party but no multiplat audio, does not allow to hear the game chat in the stream. Could you please include this?

This user brings up issues with the Twitch viewer for Xbox.

Honestly the twitch app is horrible for Xbox. Even as a viewer it lacks a lot. This past month it hasn’t even opened correctly

The overlay strikes again.

I mean it’s basically the exact same as before but you don’t need to go onto the app

Still no chat overlay like what Mixer had

However, some fans are appreciating the step forward.

AHHH SO EXCITING

The way it should be.

This is how it should be.

Question: what webcams are compatible with the Xbox for this purpose? Is there a list?

Some things are better left forgotten.

What about Mixer?

Fans would have to wait for Amazon’s word on that.

I thought Xbox has acquired Twitch for a second, that would’ve been a W

That’s a big checklist.

Also, to make sure you get viewers make sure that you are your own manager, PR officer, Financial officer, and content creator.

It indeed is.

This is great news
