The Walking Dead’s Alicia Witt’s parents’ death was caused by exposure to the cold

Alicia Witt’s parents’ deaths were a result of exposure to the cold, their death certificates have revealed.
The Walking Dead actress, 46, lost both of her parents after they were found dead at their Massachusetts home on December 20, 2021, with the cause of death having been suspected hypothermia.
Death certificates for the pair, obtained by The Telegram and Gazette, have confirmed that Robert and Diana Witt’s cause of death was ‘probable cardiac dysrhythmia’ as a result of exposure to the cold.
Robert’s death certificate also revealed he had a ‘history of coronary artery disease, hypertension, and multiple myeloma’.
The investigation into their deaths also discovered that there had been a problem with the furnace in their house before temperatures dropped to -9 degrees Celsius (15 degrees Fahrenheit) the night before they died, which was the coldest night in December.
Alicia, who played Paula on The Walking Dead, had spoken out about her parents’ death on Instagram in January, sharing a series of photos of the three of them together, from when she was a baby to recent years.

She wrote: ‘It still doesn’t feel real. It’s been a month since I got scared, not having heard back from them, and called to have them checked on. Waiting, phone in hand, praying fervently that the next call would be from them, angry i’d gotten someone else involved. Knowing as soon as i heard the detective’s voice on the other line that they were gone. Knowing i would never hear their voices again. beginning the rest of my life of finding them on the breeze, in a song, in a dream.’
Alicia thanked friends for reaching out to share memories of her parents before adding: ‘My parents were not penniless.

‘They were fiercely stubborn, beautifully original souls, and with that, they made choices – choices that I couldn’t talk them out of. I did help them, in all the ways I could – in all the ways they would let me.’
The Witts had net while teaching, with Robert being a science and physics teacher while Diane was a reading specialist.
