Serena Williams is arguably the greatest female tennis player ever. The American star is popular pretty much all over the world. Fans often showed interest in Serena’s tennis gear, including her dress and shoes. However, there has been a massive affliction in Serena’s trading cards.
People spend a lot of money on a retro card or a rookie card of the 23-time Grand Slam champion. Recently, one of her rookie cards got massive attention as someone spent heavy bucks to purchase the same.

A Buyer paid a massive amount of money for a Serena Williams trading card
On February 26, a buyer paid around $163,000 to buy a 2003 Serena Williams trading card. The card was PSA 7 and an authentic Serena Williams match-worn apparel card. Another significant factor was, it was autographed by the legendary American.

Indeed, this card is pretty rare, and the buyer paid a hefty amount for it. Serena’s cards always garnered huge attention from fans.
Towards the end of January this year, Serena’s 1999 Sports illustrated rookie card sold for a whopping $117,000. At the same time, the 2003 Netpro Glossy Serena Williams rookie card was purchased for $96,000. Another interesting fact to note here is that the 1999 rookie card became the most expensive buy for a female athlete.
Now, after yesterday’s buy, the 2003 PSA 7 card will become the most expensive female athlete card ever.

Is Serena the Goat?
After seeing the price of those tennis cards, one can clearly estimate the popularity of Serena Williams.
On the tennis court, the American is still trying to pursue the elusive 24th major crown. She has been trying it since winning the 2017 Australian Open. She came close a few times but could not achieve her dream. As age catches up on her, Serena likes to achieve that milestone as soon as possible.
Notably, Margaret Court won 24 Grand Slam titles, which is the highest number of Grand Slam titles won by any female player. If Serena wins at least one, she will match Margaret and probably become the undisputed GOAT.
