WWE Legend Reveals What Cody Rhodes Told Him About His Shocking AEW Exit: “I Am Going to Tell You Something, but I Can Only Tell You So Much”

Cody Rhodes and his wife Brandi announced their departures from the AEW. The exit of ‘Dashing’ Cody from the company came as a shock to the wrestling industry. Many rumors on the internet suggested that Cody Rhodes and company owner Tony Khan were having disputes over money. 

However, one of Rhodes’ close associates in pro wrestling revealed that financial issues with Tony Khan were not the motive for Cody’s exit. Before making his way out from the AEW, the former TNT Champion spoke to WCW icon Diamond Dallas Page (DDP).

What did Cody Rhodes have to say about Tony Khan?

DDP opened up about the same to Fightful Select. It appears that Cody Rhodes was full of appreciation in favor of the AEW owner, Tony Khan.

DDP mentioned, “Cody called me two days before. He said, ‘Listen, I am going to tell you something. But I can only tell you so much. But I know if I don’t call you and tell you, you’re gonna want to kill me. You’ll be so pi*sed off, so I have to call and tell you that I love Tony Khan. He’s a great guy. He loves me, but we are gonna split up, and I want to go off and do something else.”

The WWE Hall of Famer continued that Cody Rhodes did not mention his further move after exiting the AEW, as he wants to be surprised. Diamond Dallas Page offered Cody some advice on his following motion in the wrestling business.

“But I gave him my viewpoints, and then Cody’s a man. He’s very successful. To me, whatever he does, I wish him the best. I hope I helped him with some of my insights to help direct him. But he’s gonna do what he’s gonna do,” DDP added.

During his run in the AEW, Cody Rhodes served as the Executive Vice President, and his wife Brandi was Chief Branding Officer. The American Nightmare and Brandi Rhodes were the two essential parts of the company.

Fightful also added that Diamond’s words line up with their earlier reports about there being no bad blood between Cody Rhodes and Tony Khan. However, their report also noted that Cody, Brandi, and Tony Khan wouldn’t likely discuss the split-up situation.

Rhodes’ next move remains a mystery as the former AEW star has confirmed nothing. However, ever since he departed All-Elite, there has been a word around the internet that he will be heading back to the WWE.
